About the maker
Silky was founded in 1919 by Katsuji Miyawaki in Ono, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, originally under the brand name Tamakitsune. The company became known for replaceable-blade folding saws for carpentry, arboriculture, and outdoor use, adopting an automatic saw-setting machine in 1970. Its Gomboy and Gomtaro saw lines, introduced in 1985, were among the first to feature rubber-clad handles.
