About the maker
Imanishi Seito Co., Ltd. was founded in 1916 in Kyoto, Japan, originally as a processor and dealer of natural sharpening stones quarried from mountains such as Oohira and Amakusa. The company later developed synthetic ceramic-bonded whetstones marketed under the Bester name, combining characteristics of natural stone with manufactured abrasives. Imanishi remains headquartered in Kyoto, supplying whetstones for knife and tool sharpening.
